Outdoor Classroom Build
April 11, 12:30-3pm
Afterparty, 3-4pm
Scrap Exchange purchased an old movie theater building in 2017 after years of renting and moving locations. In this building there is an alleyway that divides the two theater spaces. For years, this alley has been a dumping ground for excess metal salvage, post-smash fest broken glass and other large scale Scraps. This year, we’re determined to reclaim this space and convert it into an outdoor classroom, utilizing scrap materials. The project itself will include affixing a hoop-house style roof structure, pressure washing concrete, creating signage, painting and moving furniture. This additional space will expand Scrap’s offerings for creative workshops to include things like welding, ceramics and woodworking.
2050 Chapel Hill Rd., Durham NC 27707
There is a large parking lot out front.
Participants should wear closed-toe shoes, and bring a hat and reusable water bottle.
