Creek and Park Cleanup
April 11th, 12:30-3pm
Afterparty, 3-4pm
At Keep Durham Beautiful, we believe in the shared responsibility to build and maintain clean, green, and beautiful spaces. That’s why we take action every day to improve and beautify neighborhoods throughout Durham. Volunteers will remove litter from a park and the creek that runs through it, with most of the litter being in/near the creek. This project will require being outside, with the potential for getting dirty and/or wet, and close contact with vegetation and/or insects. Volunteers may encounter hazardous materials such as broken glass, needles, stinging insects, or poison ivy. Volunteers who prefer not to get in/near the creek can clean up in the park or along the sidewalks surrounding the park area.
Long Meadow Park, 917 Liberty St, Durham, NC 27701
There is parking available in the small lot off of Liberty St, but we strongly recommend folks carpool where possible. The address for the park may lead people to Eva Street (it’s a problem we often have at this location), but the parking and meeting space is at the parking lot on Liberty Street, NOT Eva St.
Participants should bring a hat, a small pack for personal belongings, a reusable water bottle, and any snacks!
All tools will be provided, including gloves, litter grabbers, trash bags, safety vests, sharps boxes, and a water cooler with paper cups.
Nope! Just bring big smiles and get ready to do some good.
This is a rain or shine event. In the case of inclement weather, the workday will resume the following day, Fri. April 12, 12:30-3pm.
